Joined Dec 27 2019. At the risk of sounding stupid I wanted to ask about the use of Bradford pear wood for smoking meat. I know hickory is probably the most popular but ive heard any fruit trees make good wood for smoking.
The reason im asking is that i have a lot of it on hand due to some trees blowing over last spring. Yes the Bradford Pear is a hardwood all hardwoods are good for fuel for smokers. I have never used it myself but I think it will produce a mild sweet smoke similar to apple.

As one who has been smoking meat for 40 some years it seems most of the replies indicating not to use Bradford pear wood are only based on speculation versus true knowledge and experience. I am here to say try it as you will soon discover I am correct. Free wood is always good but I do not want to burn a wood that can cause problems in the flu ect.
